Hardly Strictly - Gillian Welch

I want to do right but not right now. Gillian welch was great. Knew of her back in the santa cruz days. About the time she was hanging out with the Harmony Grits. Ivan and her played in a fad band called Sofa. Covers of bad southern rock, "we're an american band", a few nice pieces of introspection mixed with nascar, and such. One of her less serious moments.
Eventually we got tired of being yelled at by cranky old people who think they own the place and left early.
Went for some pho on balboa, and then back to Lewis and Ange's to watch the Herzog Antarctica film. Love Herzog, he can make anything interesting.

Hardly Strictly - Okkervil River

Walked down to the park to see Hardly Strictly with Micah, Jenn, Dev, Lewis, and Ange.
Okkervil River was the best show of the day. Their songs started slightly disorganized, and ended tight and collected. Hard to tell if the effect was intentional, regardless it was wonderfully reflective of the sunny day. Shot with my 50mm all day long, sharp enough to crop, but a longer lens would have been nicer. Maybe I'll get a press pass one of these days.

Met Madeline, talked about the happy church in menlo park. Lots of happy families pouring out of the doors sunday morning, I can see the appeal.
Made our way over to see Dar Williams for Ange. Everybody is a bit long winded. Where's the simplicity of haiku? What about the chorus? Concentrate people.
liked Tom Morello's words and motto written on his guitar, "Whatever it takes".
Allison Moorer's red hair in the sunshine = something special. Alba made the right choice. Being red is bread.
We are in front on the rail, and the only one's dancing in the whole place, out of literally thousands. When did everybody get so old?
