dorte and i decided to go hike saline's peaks, packed up lots of water and a little snack and set out on foot. Not quite as lush as frigate, but beautiful just the same.
we had to pick our way upslope through thickets of cactus and poison sumack, basically whatever the goats won't eat.
the first peak was amazing, with a 360 view of white, carriacou, union, petit st vincent, and petit st martinique to the north, and frigate, large, il du rhonde, and grenada to the south.
lots of sunblock and a t-shirt didn't save me from getting burned.
second peak was snack, and a slight detour around a cactus barricade.
third peak found dorte sitting on a wobbly rock on the edge of 500ft precipice overlooking frigate, large, and grenada in the background.
the hike down was easier going, higher up natural bonsai sculpted by the wind and sun, and as we got lower trees full of epiphytes and vines.
took the long way back around the salt marsh and finally to the lizzy for lunch.
